The Flood Warning Gate is an automatic warning device that activates without the use of pumps, motors, electric, or human intervention. When flood conditions occur, a manhole basin fills, causing the flotation device to activate the system above the ground and across the roadway. The Flood Warning Gate can be completely concealed underground, or can be adapted to existing warning gates.
An obvious benefit, once the Gate is installed, is that it needs no intervention. The Gate will cordon off a flooded area, usually a low-lying or washed out roadway. The instant flooding occurs4, motorists and pedestrians will be warned of the hazards ahead. Another benefit is that the need for emergency personnel to monitor the wash out would be eliminated. Once the flood conditions have subsided, the gate returns to it's normal storage condition.
